おてがみ / Letters from kids

先日東京の出版社にお邪魔した時に、こどもたちから届いたお手紙を見せてもらいました〜。

ずーーっと見たいと思っていたのですが、今は個人情報の管理がきびしく、届いても私は直接出版社へ出向かない限り読めないのです。自分に届いたお手紙なのに、読めないって複雑！！！

中には「お返事ください」とか書いてあったり、かわいい絵が描いてあって、とっても心が痛かったです。ファンレターくらいは転送してもいいように法律を改良してほしいよ〜！

When I went to one of my publishers in Tokyo, I finally saw fan letters from kids. I always wanted to see them, but the personal information is protected so strictly here I couldn't read them for about a year!!! I absolutely understand protecting privacy is essential, but those letters were written for me! and the kids are asking me to read them! Some kids wanted replies, and others drew me beautiful pictures! I wish the law allowed at least fan letters to be forwarded to who's addressed to!

カプチーノには顔がある

打ち合わせで行ったカフェで出てきたカプチーノ。
店員さんがわざわざ一回テーブルまで運んだのに顔が描かれていないことに気がづいて、わざわざカウンターに戻ってまで描いてくれた顔です。顔はうれしい。顔はかわいい。でも一日中歩いてくたくただったし、一回テーブルに運ばれそうになって「やった！カプチーノ飲めるぞ！」とウキウキした気持ちになったところで肩すかしを食わされた私は少し「顔なんてどうでもいいからカプチーノ飲ませてくれ」と心の中で思ってしまった。

戻りました〜 / I'm back!

帰ってきました。
たった３日だったのに、忙しすぎて何だか一週間くらいいた気分です。ほとんど約束の時間と場所を行き来するだけで、ブラブラできた時間といったら三軒茶屋での１時間だけ。こっちじゃあんまり食べれないベトナム料理を３日で２回食べてきた！でも食べたりないのだ〜！

担当さんたちもお元気そうで、会えてうれしかったです。やっぱり直に会って話すと違う。電話じゃ心が通わないのよね〜。ライブも行けたし、さあ、またドーンと行くぞー！I got back from Tokyo. It was only a three day trip though it seemed as though it was a week trip. Each day was packed with appointments, so I had only an hour to stroll around. It was great to see my editors after 5 months. It's so much nicer to talk on projects in person. I got lots of ideas now!

ちょっくら出かけてきます。

明日からライブと仕事で東京へ行ってきます。
久しぶりだな〜。５ヶ月ぶりです。岐阜から東京で一人暮らしをした時は、なんて都会でコワイところなんだろうと思った。ロンドンから東京にきたとき、なんて安全で平和な都市なんだろうと思った。人間って柔軟性があるから生きてけるんですよね〜とか思ってみたり。
大学時代の友達や、徳島で出会った友達に会えるのも楽しみデス。
I'm going to Tokyo for a few days from tomorrow. I haven't been there for 5 months now. It's absolutely fantastic to have bullet trains here. It takes me to Tokyo in one and a half hours, when it would take 6 to 8 hours by local trains. Technology technology! I'm so looking forward to seeing my uni friends!

い〜い湯だな〜 / At a local hot spring

今日は、タダ券もらって近くの温泉へ！
仕事が一段落した夕方から１時間くらい行ってきました。やっぱり近くに温泉があるっていいな〜。いつもはそれほど気持ちいいと感じたことはなかったんですが、今回は疲れがたまってたみたいで、サイコー！でした。はぁ〜気持ちよかった！

来週は、東京でお仕事なのでまた気合い入れてがんばります！I went to a local hot spring after work today. It's great to have a hot spring just a 10min ride away from home. I hadn't really felt that great after hot spring before, but it was fantastic today! I must have been a bit tired.

おふとんぬくぬく/ Sun-kissed futon

おふとんを太陽に干すとぬくぬくする。
I love airing my futon on a sunny day.
干したふとんにくるんとくるまると、冬眠したい気分になる。
The futon gets so warm and fluffy soft that it makes me want to hibernate.
今もふとん干し中。
I've put the futon out today as well.
今夜は、ふとんの中で本を読むのだ。
I can't wait to read wrapped in the futon tonight...
そして眠くなったらそのまま寝ちゃうのだー。
...and fall asleep.

ケーブルテレビ / Cable TV

昨日から、ケーブルテレビで私の特集が流れてます。大垣ケーブルテレビがつながる区域の方々、よかったら見てみてくださいね〜。（詳細は右端の「メディア情報参照」）A local cable TV's featuring my latest book and interview now. It's on Ogaki cable TV, and the programme will be broadcast 28 times in total in a week.

昨日は、ピザを描きました。見ただけでよだれが出そうなピザを目指して、本屋に行って料理本の研究をしたり、ネットで調べたり、担当さんにアドバイス頂いたりして描いてみました。完璧！とは言えないけど、結構おいしそうな熱々ピザが描けましたよ〜。あ〜チーズ食べたい！I drew pizza yesterday. This is for a book I've been working on for a Japanese publisher. I aimed to nail a very realistic, mouth-watering pizza!! I don't think I got it 100% right yet, but I'm quite satisfied. Woo...I want to eat four cheese pizza now!!!!

NHKの「青春リアル」っていう番組、結構興味深いです。今時らしく、チャットで全国各地に住む人たちが意見を出し合う。私は知らない人とチャットはしないですが、こうして励まし合ったり意見をぶつけたりすることも可能なんですね。

うなぎ / Grilled eel

ひさしぶりにうなぎを食べました。うなぎってウーパールーパーの仲間みたいな姿してますよね。実際どうなんだろう。それともヘビの親戚？とか何とか考え出すと食べられなくなるので、ここは無心で味を楽しむべきだなと思いました。I had grilled eel for lunch yesterday. I don't know if I love the appearance of eel to be honest, but I shouldn't think about it when I'm eating. It tastes good anyway.
うなぎ屋さんのお庭。大きいのやら小さいのやら、たぬきがいっぱいいた。The garden of the eel restaurant. There were various sizes of potteries of raccoon.
柿畑が色づいてきました。昔はそこら中柿畑だったんだけどな。最近めっきり減りました。これからどんどん果物がおいしくなるな〜！ウシシ。A persimmon orchard. There used to be so many persimmon orchards in my area, but they are decreasing rapidly. What a shame. Anyway the fruit was getting ripe, and they'll taste great!

プラン・ジャパン / Plan Japan

前々から仕事・支援ともに関わらせて頂いているプラン・ジャパンですが、秋に楽しい「ペーパークラフトを送ろう！」キャンペーンがあります！そしてペーパークラフト４種のうち２種を担当させてもらいました〜。「トントンずもう」と「ゴールをねらえ」です。プランのHPは、こちら

私の絵が世界中のこどもたちの手にわたるってだけでも大興奮なのに、さらにそのこどもたちがこのペーパークラフトで楽しく遊んでくれるのかと思うと！たまらんですねー。Not just I've been a supporter of Plan Japan, but they've been my illustration client. They are launching a new campaign this Autumn. The supporters of Japan send one of 4 paper toys to their children in the world, so the kids can play with them.I supplied illustration for two of four toys, the No1 and 3 in the picture above.

It's so exciting to think kids scattered all over the world will have my picture in their hands. I really hope they'll have fun with the toys
