日本から１３時間かけて、１３時間時差のあるニューヨークへやって参りました。
サムとも無事に会え、カギももらえ、全てオーライ。
昨日は、一日中寝まくってしまった。
おそるべし時差ぼけ！
It took 13hours to get here, and there is 13 hour difference in time.
I couldn't be awake at all yesterday. I must have slept for more than 20 hours.
ブルックリンのウィリアムズバーグにいるのですが、
ここは治安は元々よくなかったところへ、
スタイリッシュなバーやショップが最近入り出して
家賃もあがった、というところです。
ロンドンでいうハックニーの一部やオールドストリート
って感じですね。
I'm temporally living in Williamsberg, Brooklyn.
It's sort of similar to a part of Hackney or Old st
in London. Some parts are a bit rough, and some
are for top end people.
プエルトリコ人とドミニカ人が多くて、
彼らは常にさけんでます（笑）
始めはケンカ？と思ったのですが、
フツーに会話をしているだけのようです。
声デカッ！
夜は通りによっては、ちょっとコワイ感じかな。
それにしてもニューヨーク、暑いです！
そして湿度も高い。友達んちには扇風機ない。
まだ肌寒いかもと思ってジャケットなんか
持って来た私。なぜ？
まだサンダルはいらないかもと思って
持ってこなかった私。なぜ？
This is a Puerto Rican - Dominican area.
Maybe that's why, Everybody talks really loud!
First I thought they were having an argument, but realised they were just chatting. :-) Interesting. I wouldn't want to walk some parts in this area alone at night, but I quite like this neighborhood.
It's very very hot now in NY!
I didn't bring enough summer clothes, because the guidebook said it would be around 22 c! I really should have brought some sandals too.
さてさて、今日は時差ぼけでボーッとした頭をひきずって、BEA- Book Expo America
へ行ってきました。
アメリカで最大のブックフェア。
ダメもとで気になる出版社に声をかけてみたら
私の「はしれワニくん」を知っているとのこと！
スムーズに話が進んで、今度会うかもしれない
ということになりました！やったー。
話はしてみるもんですね。
Though I still had jet lag, I dragged myself to BEA, Book Expo America today.
I think it's the biggest book fair in the US.
このブックフェアのメインイベントの１つは著名な作家によるサイン会。
私はあまり知らないので素通りだったんだけど、
もらってこればよかったかな（笑）
It was nice to see lots of books, but it wasn't certainly as illustrator- friendly as Bologna. They focus more on selling international rights. One of the main events they held was book signing by famous authors. I didn't know any of them, so I didn't bother to queue. I guess I should start to read more!
